Family Guide to FSL
The UNM Fraternity & Sorority Life Family Guide offers a brief introduction to the fraternity and sorority experience and the ways membership can support a student’s connection, development, and success at The University of New Mexico.
The guide explains how fraternities and sororities create smaller communities within the larger campus and provide opportunities for friendship, leadership, service, academic support, and belonging.
What the Guide Covers
The guide highlights several areas of the student experience, including:
- Student retention and continued enrollment
- Academic support and performance
- Experiential learning and campus involvement
- Career readiness and employment outcomes
It also answers common family questions about the benefits of membership, academics, hazing prevention, alcohol and risk management, costs, when students may choose to join, lifelong membership, and how families can provide support.
